THE SHAPERS OF TOMORROW MENTORING PROGRAM

The Bulgarian Chevening Association is launching its Mentoring program Shapers of Tomorrow, developed under the CAPF2018 project.

The project partners are the British Bulgarian Business Association, the British Embassy in Bulgaria and the British Council in Bulgaria.

Aim: To support the professional and personal development of Bulgarian students in the UK or recent graduates returning to Bulgaria and encourage community of engaged and skillful youth to lead the social change and shape civil society of tomorrow.

Why? Effective mentoring relationship can shape someone’s future and career. Learning from experienced professionals and leaders can be an invaluable experience.

Who will mentor? Professionals from the Bulgarian Chevening Association and the British Bulgarian Business Association with similar career interests and professional aspirations.

The Mentoring Program description

The Shapers of Tomorrow Mentoring Program will include usually at least 5 working sessions/meetings per year, arranged via Skype/ Messenger/ Viber/ WhatsAp/email exchange and one or two face to face meetings (if possible).

Mentors are experienced individuals, motivated to share personal achievements, including the steps of successful professional realization in Bulgaria, experience and/or knowledge about their study/training in the UK. Mentors will provide an ongoing guidance and support to their mentees and will assist their professional development and career advancement.

Mentees ought to be committed to engage in a professional relationship, where the mentee will be jointly responsible for the effectiveness of the mentoring including willing to listen, learn, collaborate and take initiative.
At the end of the program successful mentoring will be awarded with a certificate and a digital badge.

What are the benefits in participating?

Mentoring benefits all parties involved. While most people believe that mentees gain the most from a mentoring relationship, mentors have a lot to take away as well.
Some benefits to mentees include:

  • Individual interaction with a professional from their filed of interest or study
  • Exposure to new experiences, culture, etiquette
  • Professional, honest, thoughtful advice on your portfolio (resume, elevator speech, presentation skills, cover letters, core competencies, shadowing on the job and etc.)
